Eligibility Criteria (Age and Educational Qualification)
Eligibility criteria like age limit, educational qualification and experience for the SSC Translator Recruitment are as follows:
Age Limit – 18 to 30 years as on 01 Aug 2024 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Aug 1994 to 01 Aug 2006 (both dates inclusive). Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of a examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. OR
Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi/ English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/ elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of exam and the other as a compulsory/ elective subject at degree level.
AND
Recognized Diploma/ Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 02 years (03 years for Post Code D) experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central/ State Govt office, including Govt of India Undertaking.

SSC Translator Selection Process and Exam Syllabus
SSC Steno Recruitment process consists of Paper-1 (Objective Type Computer Based Examination), Paper-2 (Conventional Type Descriptive Examination) and Document verification. Candidates shortlisted in Paper-1 Exam will be allowed to appear for the Paper-2 Exam. Thereafter, on the basis of performance in Paper-1 and Paper-2, candidates will be shortlisted for document verification.
Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments will be based on performance in Paper 1 plus Paper 2 Exam and the preference of Posts/ Departments.
Paper-1 (Objective Type Computer Based Exam) – 02 Hours duration
General Hindi: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
General English: 100 Questions (100 Marks)
Syllabus: The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.
Paper-2 (Conventional Type Descriptive Examination) – 02 Hours duration
Translation and Essay: 200 Marks
Syllabus: The 2nd paper will contain two passages for translation- one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
Qualifying marks in Paper 1st (Computer Based Exam):
UR Category – Minimum 30%
OBC/ EWS Category – Minimum 25%
Other Categories: – Minimum 20%

Application form, Notification and Important Dates
Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit online application form for the SSC Translator JHT JTO SHT JT Recruitment Exam through the website ssc.gov.in up to 25th Aug 2024. You have to complete the online application process consisting two parts as One Time Registration and Filling of online Application.
One Time Registration part is for filling the basic information (Mobile number, Email, Aadhaar Number, Name, Father’s name, Mother’s name, date of birth etc) and Filling of online Application part is for personal details, educational details, uploading documents, preference for exam centers, payment of fee etc.
Candidates are advised to read the instructions as mentioned in the recruitment notification and fill all the required details carefully while filling up the registration part and application part.
Application fee: Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only).
The application fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card. SC, ST, Persons with disability, Ex-serviceman and Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
SSC Translator Admit Card – Admit Card for the SSC Translator exam will not be sent by Post. Candidates will have to download SSC Translator Admit Card (Call letter) online through the website of concerned Regional/ Sub Regional Office.
