RRC Northern Railway has invited applications under Sports Quota for the following Group D Vacancies through direct recruitment in all divisions/ workshops. All eligible Indian male and female sportsperson can apply online for the Railway Sports Quota Bharti Vacancies through rrcnr.net.in up to 09th March 2025. Indian Railway Sports Quota Recruitment
Sportspersons who have participated in championships held from 01 April 2022 under the aegis of recognized International/ National/ State Sports Federation and also recognized by Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), are eligible to apply for Indian Railway Sports Quota Recruitment for below given disciplines.
Total Number of Vacancies – 38 Posts (Group D)
Sports Discipline wise Vacancy Details:
Football (Men)-02, Weightlifting (Men)-05, Kho-Kho (Men)-03, Athletics (Women)-02, Athletics (Men)-02, Boxing (Men)-03, Tennis (Men)-03, Golf (Men)-01, Aquatics (Swimming-Men)-01, Table Tennis (Men)-02, Hockey (Men)-05, Badminton (Men)-03, Basketball (Women)-01, Wrestling (Women)-01 and Cricket (Men)-04.
Sports person having sports norms for higher level and who have applied against the vacancies for the lower level can be considered for recruitment against the level applied for only. In such cases the sportsperson has to give an undertaking that he/she will not claim for higher level after joining Railways.
Pay Scale – Rs 18000-56900 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix level-1 plus other allowances (Rs 5200-20200 PB-1 with GP Rs 1800 as per 6th CPC).
Eligibility Criteria – Eligibility criteria as age limit, educational and sports qualification for Railway Sports Quota Recruitment is as follows:
Age Limit – 18 to 25 years as on 01st Jul 2025 (No age relaxation will be permissible). As documentary proof of Date of Birth, only the 10th Class/ Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate/ mark sheet indicating Date of Birth or School Leaving Certificate indicating Date of Birth will be accepted.
Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) is the minimum educational qualification to be eligible to apply for Railway Sports Quota Recruitment.
Sports Qualification – Represented the Country in any of the Category C Championships/ events OR At least 3rd Position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category) OR Represented a State of equivalent Unit, except in Marathon and Cross Country, with at least 8th position in senior national championship only.

For recruitment purpose, international championships/ events are categorized as Category C: Commonwealth Championship (Junior/ Senior), Asian Championships/ Asia Cup (Junior/ Senior), South Asian Federations (SAF) Games (Senior), USIC (World Railways) championship (Senior) and World University games.
Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis – The minimum sports achievement will be up to 30th position in the annual All India Rankings for the Senior Singles category. The highest ranking may be considered valid for 01 year. Ranking in mixed doubles will be considered only in badminton, not in tennis and table tennis.
Cricket – Pre-Quarter finalist in Senior/ U-23/ U-19 All India Inter State Championships (Except plate group).
Golf – Sportspersons having I.G.U ranking up to 100, subject to single handicap i.e. less than 10 (in order of Merit list) will also be eligible for recruitment. Only the current annual All India Ranking will be considered for these purposes.

Railway Sports Quota Selection Procedure
The recruitment process consists of Screening & Scrutiny of application, Documents verification and Selection trial (Physical fitness test and Skill test) followed by Medical examination. The recruitment trials are scheduled to be conducted from 17th Mar to 29th Mar 2025 (tentative).
After closing date of application process, Admit Card indicating date, time and place will be sent through email/sms to shortlisted candidates to appear in the Recruitment trials. Shortlisting criteria for trials will be based on Screening and Scrutiny of application.
Documents Verification
Candidates found eligible in Screening and Scrutiny of application will be called for Document Verification before Trial. The following documents in Original along with one set of self-attested photo copies are mandatory on the day of Document Verification:
- Date of Birth Certificate (Matriculation or equivalent certificate)
- All Educational Qualification (Marksheets and Certificates)
- Sports Achievements
- Caste Certificate
- Relevant certificate for exemption in fees, if applicable
- Two (02) recent passport size photograph (self-attested on reverse)
- E-Admit Card
- Valid Photo ID (Voter Card, Aadhaar Card, E-Aadhaar, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport etc.)
- NOC from the employer, if working
Selection Trial
The recruitment will be based on trials, assessment of sports achievements and educational qualification. Only those candidates who are found fit in the trial will be considered for the next stage. Trials of the candidates will be conducted by the Trial Committee to assess their sports performance and suitability for the Railway/ Unit team as well as for the Indian Railways team.
The candidate must obtain 25 Marks or more in Game Skills, Physical Fitness and Coach’s Observations during the trials to be declared fit.
Note: Physical fitness test for Football, Cricket, Hockey, Kho-Kho Men, Badminton, Tennis & Boxing games is required to minimum 17 level of Yo-Yo Test for Men and Basketball Women 15 level Yo-Yo test.

Assessment Test
After the trials, only FIT candidates will be considered for next stage by Recruitment Committee. Assessment of the candidates will be held on the same day, just after trials or at the most next day of trials. Candidates are required to carry their own sports kit for the trials, wherever applicable.
Marks for sports achievements and Education Qualification will be awarded by the Committee as per following criteria:
For assessment of recognized Sports Achievements as per norms – 50 Marks
Educational Qualification and General Intelligence/ Personality – 10 Marks
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of total marks awarded to the candidates by the Trial and Recruitment Committee. The minimum qualifying marks are 60 Marks.
The offer of appointment will be given purely on the basis of merit. In case more than one sportsperson scores equal marks, preference will be given to younger candidates to decide the merit.
Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness standards prescribed for the post to be identified by the Northern Railway.

Application Form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit online form for the RRC Northern Railway Sports Quota Vacancies through the website rrcnr.org or rrcnr.net.in up to 09th Mar 2025. Before applying online, keep ready your Email ID, Mobile number, Aadhar number and scanned copies of required documents, photo, sign and thumb impression.
Candidate applying for more than one discipline/ game or event will have to submit separate application with separate examination fee along with all necessary documents for each discipline/ game or event.
To apply online for the Railway Sports Quota Recruitment, firstly go through the Registration process (if not registered already). Then log on to the recruitment website using the registered User ID & Password and proceed to complete the application process as form filling, fee payment, uploading documents and details print.

Documents to be uploaded with online application – Candidates will have to upload following documents/ certificates with the online application failing which application will be rejected.

2. Proof of Essential educational i.e. 12th or Graduation as the case may be and Sport qualification prescribed for the category/post.
3. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ Minority/ EWS (Economically Backward) etc, Certificate in prescribed format.

SC/ ST/ Women/ Minorities/ Economically Backward Classes – Rs. 250/-
