Eligibility Criteria (Age and Educational Qualification)
Age Limit – 18 to 36 Years as on 01.01.2025 i.e. candidate must be born between 02 Jan 1989 and 01 Jan 2007 (includes a relaxation of 03 years in upper age limit as a one-time measure due to the Covid-19 pandemic).
Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
Educational Qualification:
Junior Engineer (JE) – 03 years Diploma in the relevant Engineering Branch (Civil Engineering/ Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering/ Manufacturing/ Information Technology/ Communication Engineering/ Computer Science & Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering etc) from a recognized University/ Institution.
Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) – 03 years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/ Institute.
Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) – Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics & Chemistry with minimum 45% marks from a recognized University/ Institute.
Chemical Supervisor (Research) – Degree or its equivalent in Chemical Technology from a recognized University/ Institution covering any one or more of the fields- Petroleum Products/ Paints and Corrosion Prevention/ Polymers. Knowledge of any computer language will be essential.
Metallurgical Supervisor (Research) – Degree or its equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institution. Knowledge of any computer language will be essential.

RRB JE Selection Process, CBT and Exam Syllabus
Recruitment process for the selection of RRB Junior Engineer consists of 1st stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd stage CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination as per the exam pattern and syllabus below.
- 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I)

1st Stage Computer Based Test
Firstly, all eligible candidates will have to undergo 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) on respective date, time and venue as given in e-call letter (admit card). The CBT will be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of an Objective Type paper of 100 questions (01 mark each).
1/3 marks will be deducted as negative marking for every wrong answer marked by candidates. Minimum 40% marks (30% marks for OBC/SC and 25% marks for ST candidates) will be mandatory to qualify the CBT.

CBT-1 Exam Syllabus:
Mathematics – Number systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
General Intelligence and Reasoning – Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement- Arguments and Assumptions etc.
General Awareness – Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.
General Science – Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus).
2nd Stage Computer Based Test
Candidates shortlisted (15 times) on the basis of normalized marks obtained in 1st Stage CBT will be allowed for 2nd Stage CBT. The exam will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of an Objective Type paper of 150 questions (01 mark each).

CBT-2 Exam Syllabus:
General Awareness – Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.
Physics and Chemistry – Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
Basics of Computers and Applications – Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating System like Windows, Unix, Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.
Basics of Environment and Pollution Control – Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.
Technical Abilities – Questions on the Technical abilities will be based on the syllabus defined for various Exam Groups given in the employment notice.
Final selection of candidates in the post of RRB Junior Engineer will be based on passing medical fitness test, final verification of educational & category (caste) certificates and verification of antecedents/ character.

Application form, Important Dates and Notification
Eligible and interested candidates can apply online for the RRB Junior Engineer Recruitment through the website www.rrbapply.gov.in up to 29th Aug 2024. Keep ready a valid Email ID, Mobile number, Educational qualification details and scanned copies of color photograph (30 to 70 KB), signature (30 to 70 KB) and SC/ST Certificate (up to 500 KB) in JPEG format before filling of online form.
To apply online for the RRB Junior Engineer posts, follow the required and important steps as given below:
Registration – Firstly, Create an account with the required details (Name, Date of Birth, Father’s name, Mother’s Name, Aadhar number, mobile number, email-id etc). After the one time registration, note down and preserve the user id and password for further requirements.
If you have already created an Account for CEN 01/2024 (ALP) or CEN 02/2024 (Technician) or CEN RPF 01/2024 (Sub-Inspector) or CEN RPF 02/2024 (Constable), then you can login using the same username and password (not required to register again).
Application form – Proceed with the RRB Junior Engineer online application by logging in the Official Recruitment Portal using registered user id and Password. In the first part of application form, submit Educational qualification, Gender, Religion, ESM, Minority, Economically backward class & category (as applicable) and other details.
In the next part of application form, submit exam group and priority/ preferences for posts (as applicable). On submitting the details you will be directed to the payment page and complete the fee payment process using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.
In the last part of application form, provide details of Educational Qualification, choice of Exam language (Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu etc), Bank Account details for Refund of exam fee etc, and then upload your color photograph, signature and caste certificate (SC/ST).
After successful submission of online application, take print out of the online application form for reference/ record.

GEN/ OBC Category: Rs 500/-
SC/ ST/ Ex-Serviceman/ Female/ Transgender/ Minorities/ Economically Backward Class: Rs 250/-
The exam fee can be paid online by using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking and UPI.
