ITBP Telecom Selection Process, Physical and Exam Pattern

Indo Tibetan Border Police Force has initiated recruitment process for the selection of Sub Inspector (Telecom), Head Constable (Telecom) and Constable (Telecom). ITBP SI HC Constable Telecom Selection Process

Candidates whose application forms are found to be in order will be issued online admit card through the official website. All candidates will have to appear for the recruitment tests as per the date, time and center (venue) mentioned in Admit Card.

After verification of identity and bio-metric examination at the center, candidates will have to undergo SI, Head Constable and Constable (Telecom) recruitment tests in four phases as follows:

  • Phase 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)
  • Phase 2: Written examination
  • Phase 3: Verification of original documents
  • Phase 4: Merit list and Medical examination (DME/ RME)

ITBP Telecommunication Selection Procedure

The recruitment process consists of Phase-1 (PET and PST), Phase-2 (Written exam), Phase-3 (Document verification) and Phase-4 (Merit list and Medical examination). You will have to carry a clear printout of online application form and admit card at the recruitment tests centre. After verification, candidates will have to undergo different selection tests step by step as given below:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Firstly, candidates will have to go through the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) events. The PET will be qualifying in nature and you will have to qualify each event. PET will not be held for Ex-Servicemen. The PET events for SI, HC and Constable posts are as follows:

Sub Inspector (Telecommunication):

Male Candidates:
Race – 100 Meters within 16 Seconds and 1.6 Kms within 07 Minutes 30 Seconds.

Female Candidates:
Race – 100 Meters within 18 Seconds and 800 Meters within 04 Minutes 45 Seconds.

Head Constable (Telecom) and Constable (Telecom):

Male Candidates:
Race – 1.6 Kms within 07 Minutes 30 Seconds
Long Jump – 11 Feet (03 Chances)
High Jump – 3½ Feet (03 chances)

Female Candidates:
Race – 800 Meters within 04 Minutes 45 Seconds
Long Jump – 09 Feet (03 Chances)
High Jump – 03 Feet (03 chances)

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates qualified in PET will have to undergo Physical Standard Test. Physical Standards (Height, Chest and Weight) for ITBP SI (Telecom), Head Constable (Telecom) and Constable (Telecom) posts will be measured as follows:

Height:
GEN/ SC/ OBC Category – Male: 170 Cms and Female 157 Cms.
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir region of UT Jammu & Kashmir and UT Ladakh – Male: 165 Cms and Female 155 Cms.
ST Category – Male: 162.5 Cms and Female 150 Cms.

Chest (for Male Candidates only):
GEN/ SC/ OBC Category – 80-85 Cms.
Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir region of UT Jammu & Kashmir and UT Ladakh – 78-83 Cms (80-85 Cms for SI Telecom).
ST Category – 76-81 Cms (77-82 Cms for SI Telecom).

Weight (Male and Female): Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Written Examination

Candidates qualified in PST will be called for OMR/ Computer based written exam consisting objective type multiple choice questions. Fresh admit cards will be issued to all PET/PST qualified candidates to appear in the written exam. ITBP HC/Constable Telecom written exam will be of 02 Hours duration and will consist of total 100 objective type questions (01 mark each) of 10th/ 12th level. The question papers will be Bilingual i.e. set both in Hindi and English.

Sub Inspector (Telecom) Exam – The exam consists of two papers consisting objective type multiple choice questions of Graduate level. Each paper will be of 02 Hours duration and maximum 100 Marks. Questions in Paper-1 will be based on General English/ Hindi, General Awareness and Reasoning Ability. Whereas, questions in Paper-2 will be based on Physics, Chemistry, Math, Electronics, Communication, IT, CS, Electrical and Instrumentation & Control as per the pattern below:

  • Paper-1: General English or General Hindi (30 Questions/ 30 Marks), General Awareness (35 Questions/ 35 Marks) and Reasoning Ability (35 Questions/ 35 Marks).
  • Paper-2: Physics (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Chemistry (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Maths (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Electronics (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Communication (20 Questions/ 20 Marks), Information Technology (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Computer Science (10 Questions/ 10 Marks), Electrical (10 Questions/ 10 Marks) and Instrumentation & Control (10 Questions/ 10 Marks).

Head Constable (Telecom) Exam – The question paper will consist of objective type multiple choice questions based on General English/ Hindi, General Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Physics, Chemistry and Maths as per the exam pattern below:

  • General English or General Hindi: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • General Awareness: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • Reasoning Ability: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • Physics: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • Chemistry: 10 Questions (10 Marks)
  • Maths: 20 Questions (20 Marks)

Constable (Telecom) Exam – The question paper will consist of objective type multiple choice questions based on General English/ Hindi, General Awareness, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude as per the exam pattern below:

  • General English or General Hindi: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • General Awareness: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
  • Reasoning Ability: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 30 Questions (30 Marks)

The pattern of written exam i.e. OMR based or Computer Based Test (CBT) will be decided by ITBP. Answer Key of all question papers will be published on the ITBP official website after the written exam. The minimum cut-off percentage of marks for qualifying in written exam will be 35% for UR/ EWS/ Ex-Serviceman candidates and 33% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates.

Verification of Original Documents

Candidates declared qualified in written exam will be put through verification of original documents (documentation). To pass in the documentation test, you will have to produce all original documents/ certificates in proof of details as given in the online form. Original documents will be returned and self attested photocopies will be retained with application. The following documents/ certificates (original with photocopies) will be required at the time of document verification (DV):

1. Educational certificates along with Degree/ Diploma Certificate.
2. 10th Pass certificate for Date of Birth verification.
3. SC/ST/OBC Certificate in prescribed format (as applicable).
4. OBC (NCL) Declaration (as per the prescribed format).
5. EWS Certificate in prescribed format (if applicable).
6. No Objection Certificate (for Govt servants).
7. Height and Chest Relaxation certificate (if applicable).
8. Domicile Certificate/ PAN Card/ Aadhar Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID Card for verification of citizenship.
9. Discharge certificate (for Ex-Serviceman).
10. NCC A/ B/ C Certificate (if held).
11. Four recent passport size photographs.

Bonus Marks to NCC Certificate Holders – The following incentive/ bonus marks will be awarded to candidates who have opted Bonus Marks/ Incentive for NCC Certificate in online application.

NCC ‘C’ Certificate – 5% of the maximum marks of the exam.
NCC ‘B’ Certificate – 3% of the maximum marks of the exam.
NCC ‘A’ Certificate – 2% of the maximum marks of the exam.

Merit List

After completion of documentation, post and category wise merit lists will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination. ITBP Telecom merit list (Result) will be declared through the official website recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. On the basis of merit, candidates will be shortlisted for Verification of original documents and Detailed Medical Examination (DME) as per the category-wise vacancies.

Extended list in each category will also be prepared to cover the shortfall due to failure of candidates in Documentation, Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME). However, there will be no reserve list.

Medical Examination (DME/ RME)

Finally, all selected candidates will have to undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME) to assess their fitness as per the Medical Standards. Candidates declared unfit during DME will be allowed to undergo Review Medical Examination (RME). The decision of ITBPF Board of Medical Officers will be final for declaring a candidate Fit or Unfit in DME/ RME.

The minimum distance vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye without correction i.e. without wearing spectacles or lenses. The visual (eye sight) standards for the candidates of all categories are as follows:

Visual Acuity unaided (NEAR VISION): Better eye-N6 and Worse eye-N9.
Uncorrected visual acuity (DISTANT VISION): Better eye-6/6 and Worse eye-6/9.
Refraction: Visual correction of any kind is not permitted even by glasses.
Color Vision: CP-III by ISIHARA.

In right handed person, the Right eye is better eye and vice versa. Binocular vision is required.

The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins or squint in eyes. Candidate must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.

Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed. Size must be less than ¼ of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.
