All eligible Indian male and female outstanding sportsperson can apply for the Army Sports Quota Bharti Vacancies on the paper application form (offline) downloaded from joinindianarmy.nic.in up to 30th Sep 2024. Indian Army Sports Quota Recruitment Intake 02/2024
Sports Discipline Details – Sportspersons who have participated at International/ Junior or Senior National Championship/ Khelo India Games/ Youth Games from 01st Apr 2022 to 31st Mar 2024 are eligible to join the Indian Army as Direct Entry Havildar and Nb Subedar for Intake 02/2024 in the sports disciplines as follows:
Male- Athletics (Track & Field events), Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Diving, Football, Fencing, Gymnastics (Artistic), Hockey, Handball, Kabaddi, Kayaking & Canoeing, Swimming, Sailing, Shooting, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weight Lifting, Wrestling, Winter Games and Rowing. Female- Athletics (Track & Field events), Archery, Sailing, Shooting and Wrestling.

Sportsperson with exceptional talent other than the mentioned event/ position/ category may also apply for the Sports Quota Recruitment (refer to official notification for specific event/ position/ category details).
Pay Scale, Benefits and Promotion – Pay and allowances for direct entry Havildar and Nb Subedar will be same as existing Regular Serving Personnel of Indian Army. Pensionary benefits and all other benefits as CSD, medical facilities etc will be applicable.
Promotion prospects exist based on merit up to Subedar Major rank. Opportunities for promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well, qualify the prescribed exams/ selection process and meet the eligibility conditions.
Eligibility Criteria – Eligibility criteria as age limit, educational and sports qualification for Direct Entry Havildar and Direct Entry Naib Subedar is as follows:
Age Limit – 17½ to 25 years as on the day of enrolment i.e. candidate must be born between 01st Oct 1999 and 30th Sep 2006 (both dates inclusive). Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible for enrolment as Havildar and Naib Subedar (Sports).
Educational Qualification – 10th Pass (Matriculation) is the minimum educational qualification for Indian Army Sports Quota Recruitment.
Sports Qualification:
Havildar (Men/ Women) Direct Entry – The selection will be made from out of those sportspersons who have represented in any of the specific sports/ games as follows:
- Sportsperson should be a Medalist at Junior/ Senior level by representing State in National competitions or have represented Country at International level (Individual event).
- Sportsperson should have represented a State or Country in National or International competitions at Junior/ Senior level (Team event).
- Sportsperson should be a Medalist in Khelo India Games and Youth Games or above.
Naib Subedar (Men/ Women) Direct Entry – The selection will be made from out of those sportspersons who have represented in any of the specific sports/ games as follows:
- Sportsperson should be winner of any medal in World Championship/ Asian Championships.
- Sportsperson should be winner of any medal in Asian Games.
- Sportsperson should be winner of any medal in CWG/ World Cup.
- Represented India twice in Asian Games/ Commonwealth Games/ World Cup.
- Represented India in Olympics.

Indian Army Sports Quota Selection Process and Physical Test
The recruitment process consists of Selection trials (Physical fitness test, Physical standards test and Skill test) followed by Medical examination at designated Army Centres. The recruitment trials will be conducted on scheduled dates as mentioned in Admit Card.
After closing date of application process, Admit Card indicating date, time and place will be sent through email/ sms to shortlisted candidates to appear in the Recruitment Rally (trials). Shortlisting criteria for Indian Army Sports Quota Recruitment trials will be based on higher sports achievements.
Candidates must be prepared to stay under their own arrangement for the entire duration of the PFT, PST, Skill test and Medical examination in Delhi or place mentioned in Call letter. In case of non-availability of sports infrastructure of particular sports in Delhi, Army Sports Control Board (ASCB) reserves the right to hold trials outside Delhi.
Candidates are required to report at the Selection Trials Site by 0600 Hours on their scheduled dates. Candidates reporting after 0600 Hours without appropriate justification will not be permitted to participate in the trials. Candidate must be clean shaven (except Sikh candidate).
The selection/ merit list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all aspects. The offer of enrolment will be forwarded to the selected candidates only, which will be strictly determined by requirement in particular sports disciplines and availability of vacancies.
Final Result will be declared on the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in. Separate call letter will be sent to the candidate to report at Regimental/ Corps Training Centre for training. It will be the responsibility of candidate to check his/her result and report at designated Regiment Centre.

Physical Standards Test
Male Candidates – The Physical Standards Test (PST) for Direct Entry Havildar/ Naib Subedar (Men) is as follows:

Western Himalayan [Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Hill (Area South and West of the Inter State Border between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and North East of Road Mukeria, Hoshiarpur, Garh Shankar and Ropar), Garhwal and Kumaon (Uttarakhand)] – 163 Cms
Eastern Himalayan [Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam and Hill Region of West Bengal (Darjeeling Distt)] – 160 Cms
Western Plains [Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh (Meerut and Agra Div)] – 170 Cms
Eastern Plains (Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha) – 169 Cms
Central Plains (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu) – 168 Cms
Southern Plains (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Puducherry, A&N Islands) – 166 Cms
Gorkhas and Ladakhis – 157 Cms
Chest: Minimum 05 Cms expansion.
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per Army medical standards.
Female Candidates – The Physical Standards Test (PST) for Direct Entry Havildar/ Naib Subedar (Women) is as follows:
Height: Minimum 162 Cms. 04 Cms height relaxation will be given to candidates belonging to North East Region (Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Assam), Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Ladakhis and Tribals of recognized tribal areas.
Chest: Minimum 05 Cms expansion.
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per Army medical standards.

Physical Fitness Test
Male Candidates – The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for Direct Entry Havildar/ Naib Subedar (Men) will be conducted as follows:
- 1.6 Km Run: Need to qualify within 05 Minutes 45 Seconds.
- 09 Feet Ditch: Need to qualify.
- Zig-Zag Balance: Need to qualify.
Female Candidates – The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for Direct Entry Havildar/ Naib Subedar (Women) will be conducted as follows:
- 1.6 Km Run: Need to qualify within 08 Minutes.
- 10 Feet Long Jump: Need to qualify.
- 3 Feet High Jump: Need to qualify.
Medical Examination
Candidates qualified in PFT, PST and Skill Test will have to appear for medical examination by Army Medical Team during the recruitment trials as per Army Medical Standards. Candidates must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disability likely to interfere with the efficient performance of military duty in all weather and across all terrains.
Candidates are advised to undergo medical exam in their own interest before coming for selection especially with respect to flat foot, poor vision, deformities and physical measurements. All are advised to ensure that their ears are free of wax by getting it cleaned by a doctor prior to the selection trials.
Candidates should have proper haircut and clean shaven (beard, chest hair etc). Only Sikh candidates will be permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and moustache.
Permanent body tattoos are permitted, however, tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of the palm and Tribal with tattoo which are as per the custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered.

Documents Required at Selection Venue
Candidates are required to carry the following documents/ certificates in original at the time of Indian Army Sports Quota selection trials:
1. Admit Card received through email (printed on good quality paper).
2. Twenty (20) copies of unattested recent passport size colour photographs developed on good quality photographic paper in white background (not more than 01 month old). Photographs must be with proper haircut and clean shave (except Sikh candidates).
3. 10th/ 12th etc Education certificate with marks sheet. Candidates with Matric certificate from NIOS should bring school leaving certificate countersigned by EO/DEO.
4. Domicile Certificate with photograph issued by Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
5. Caste Certificate with photograph issued by the Tehsildar/ District Magistrate.
6. Religion certificate issued by the Tehsildar/ SDM (if religion as SIKH/ HINDU/ MUSLIM/ CHRISTIAN is not mentioned in caste certificate).
7. School Character certificate issued by the School/ College Principal/ Headmaster where the candidate last studied.
8. Character certificate with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last 06 months.
9. Unmarried Certificate for all candidates with photograph issued by Village Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last 06 months.
10. Original and 04 self-attested photocopies of Discharge Certificate subject to no adverse entry in discharge certificate (for candidates discharged from Indian Air Force/ Indian Navy).
11. NOC in original and 04 self-attested photocopies from the employer (for candidates presently serving in any govt organization).
12. Sports Kit (candidates have to carry their own sports gear and equipment for physical fitness test and skill test).
Candidate must carry their Aadhar Card as proof of identity which could be authenticated biometrically at the Selection Trials Venue and candidates have to ensure Aadhar details are matching with the details mentioned in the documents and application.

Eligible and interested candidates can submit their paper application form (offline) for the Indian Army Sports Quota Recruitment through Post up to 30th Sep 2024. For application form, download official recruitment notification below and then take a printout of the form on A4 size paper only as per the prescribed format given at the end of notification.

Fill and complete the application form in all aspects (signature, thumb impression and affixing photograph). Attach the self attested copy of Matriculation certificate and Sports achievement documents with the application. Thereafter, send the duly filled application form along with required certificates/ documents via Post on the postal address of Army Sports Control Board below:
