The main role of the Border Roads Organisation (सीमा सड़क संगठन) is to support the armed forces meet their strategic needs, develop & maintain the Operational Road Infrastructure of General Staff in the Border Areas and Contributing to the Socio-Economic Development of the Border States.

Draughtsman – Rs 29200-92300 (Pay Level 5).
Supervisor Administration – Rs 25500-81100 (Pay Level 4).

Eligibility Criteria (Age and Qualification)
Age Limit:
Draughtsman, Supervisor (Admn), Machinist, Driver Mechanical Transport (OG), Driver Road Roller (OG), Operator Excavating Machinery (OG) – 18 to 27 years as on 30th Dec 2024 i.e. candidate should have been born between 30 Dec 1997 and 30 Dec 2006.
Turner – 18 to 25 years as on 30th Dec 2024 i.e. candidate should have been born between 30 Dec 1999 and 30 Dec 2006.
MSW (Cook, Mason, Blacksmith and Mess Waiter) – 18 to 25 years as on 25th Feb 2025 i.e. candidate should have been born between 24 Feb 2000 and 24 Feb 2007.
Relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other categories is applicable as per Govt rules.
Educational Qualification:
Draughtsman – 12th Pass with Science subjects from a recognised Board and 02 years Certificate in Architecture or Draughtsmanship from a recognized Institute or equivalent. OR 02 years National Trade Certificate in Draughtsman (Civil) from a recognized Institute with 01 year practical experience in the trade.
Supervisor (Administration) – Degree from a recognized University or equivalent and National Cadet Core ‘B’ Certificate or Ex-Naib Subedar (General Duty) from the Army or equivalent from Navy or Air Force.
Turner – Turner Certificate from ITC/ ITI/ NCTVT/ Defence Trade Certificate with 01 year experience. OR Passed Class II Course for Turner as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

BRO Selection Process, Physical and Exam Syllabus
The selection process consists of Written Exam, Physical Efficiency Test, Trade/ Practical Test (as applicable) followed by Medical Examination. Call letter (Admit Card) for the recruitment tests will be sent to eligible candidates by Ordinary Post and the same can also be downloaded through the website.
The dates for Written Exam, Physical Efficiency Test and Trade/ Practical Test will be fixed by Commandant, GREF Centre, Pune.
Candidates will be provisionally selected on the basis of Combined Merit List in Written Test only and will have to undergo Medical Examination. Thereafter candidates declared fit in Medical Examination and meeting all criteria, will have to undergo training at GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune-15 for specified period.
Issue of Call Letter
The admit cards will be issued as per minimum 10 times of the vacancy advertised in each category. If the BRO receives applications more than 10 times then for each post, a cut off percentage in Essential Qualification will be applicable.
For wards of serving/ retired GREF personnel/ Ex-servicemen, Sportsmen and NCC certificate holders, highest out of the following Weightages (Bonus marks) will be added to the percentage of marks obtained for issue of initial Admit Card (Call letter) only and no weightage will be added for any further recruitment process.
Weightage for Issue of Call Letter:
1. Son of serving/ retired GREF personnel (such concession to only one son) – 15%
2. NCC C Certificate – 10%
3. NCC B Certificate – 05%
4. Serving GREF Personnel applying for higher post (Open competition) – 15%
5. Son of Ex-servicemen – 03%
6. Sportsman at State/ District/ University level – 05%
7. Casual Paid Labour (CPL) – 10%
Written Examination
The written exam (10th/ 12th/ Graduation standard) will consist of Objective type/ Subjective type questions on General Knowledge, General English/ Hindi, General Arithmetic, Analytical and Quantitative Skills. The objective type questions will be OMR based and the subjective questions have to be answered in the answer sheet.
The question paper will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi and the duration of the exam may vary from 01 Hour to 03 Hours depending upon the trade. Minimum Passing Marks for UR/ EWS/ OBC category will be 50% and 40% for SC/ ST category. Marks obtained in the Written Exam will only be considered for selection of candidates for further recruitment process.
The written exam for the different trades will be conducted as per the Syllabus below.

The Physical Efficiency Test will consist of 1.6 Kms run within 10 Minutes. Passing the Physical Efficiency Test will be mandatory for all trades. Physically handicapped candidates, Ex-servicemen and departmental candidates will be exempted from Physical Efficiency Test.

Practical/ Trade Test
Candidates qualified in Physical Efficiency Test will be allowed to appear for the Practical Test (Trade Test). Minimum 40% Marks are required to qualify and is applicable for the following posts only. The Trade Test will be conducted at GREF Centre or any other centre as per the Syllabus below:
Turner – Boring/ Honing, Grinding by lathe, Drilling, Shaping, Turning operation and Plaining operation.
Machinist – Boring/Honing, Grinding by lathe, Drilling, Shaping, Turning operation and Plaining operation.
Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade) – Maneuvering of slope without slipping, Driving of vehicle on a driving track (8) and Reverse parking.
Driver Road Roller (Ordinary Grade) – Forward and reverse march of road roller with only 10 cm of clearance on both side.
Operator Excavating Machinery (Ordinary Grade) – Dozing of earth by dozer & its output/ excavating & loading of excavated material by Excavator (time period per candidate 05 minutes).
Multi Skilled Worker (Cook) – Chopping/ Cutting of vegetables; Identification of Spices; Cleaning of Utensils; Knowledge of cleanliness of working place; Finishing/ garnishing/ decoration/ beautification/ flavoring of food.
Multi Skilled Worker (Mason) – Brick masonry; Stone masonry; Mixing mortar as per proportion; Uses of vibrators; Erecting knowledge of shuttering; Curing procedure.
Multi Skilled Worker (Blacksmith) – Application of gauges & measuring instrument; Denting work; Preparation of different shapes from available material; Preparation of dice; Safety precaution.
Multi Skilled Worker (Mess Waiter) – Beverage serving etiquette; Food serving etiquette; Uses of different type of crockery/ cutlery; Laying out a dining table for various occasions; Preparation of bed; Identification of food/ beverage.

You will have to carry the following documents/ certificates (in original) at the time of reporting for recruitment process:

Medical Examination
Every candidate must be sufficiently intelligent, be free from various instability and be in possession of sound health. He shall have no constitutional or acquired disability as may in the opinion of the Recruiting Medical Officer render him unfit for duties in the Force particularly at high altitude. He must be free from Colour blindness.
Visual acuity not less than 6/12 each eye or Right eye 6/6, Left 6/24. Corrective spectacles are permitted during the visual test. Unaided vision in case of corrected vision will not be below 6/60 in each eye and on correction will be same as laid down for other candidates.
Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand (obscene, vulgar or objectionable tattoos are not permitted). Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from further screening.

After downloading the notification, take a printout of the application format on good quality A4 size paper using one side only.
If you are eligible for more than one post then you can send separate application with separate fee in separate envelope. Candidates applied in response to previous notification are required to apply afresh.
