39 GTC Varanasi Defence Civilian Vacancies
Pay Scale:
Steno Grade-II – Rs 25500-81100 (Pay Level-4).
LDC – Rs 19900-63200 (Pay Level-2).
Messenger, Draftari, Safaiwala and Cook – Rs 18000-56900 (Pay Level-1).

Age Limit – 18 to 25 years (18 to 28 years for OBC candidates) as on application closing date (relaxation in upper age is applicable limit as per Govt rules).
Educational Qualification:
Steno Grade-II – 12th Pass (10+2) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board with the Skill Test Norms- Dictation 10 minutes @ 80 wpm and Transcription 50 minutes (English) & 65 minutes (Hindi) on Computer.
LDC (Clerk) – 12th Pass (10+2) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board with the Skill Test Norms- English Typing @ 35 wpm on computer or Hindi Typing @ 30 wpm on computer (35 Words per minutes and 30 words per minutes corresponding to 10500/ 9000 KDPH on an average of 05 key depressions for each word).
Messenger, Draftari and Safaiwala – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board. As a desirable qualification, candidate should be conversant with the duties of the respective trades with one year experience in the trade.
Cook – 10th Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board and candidate must have knowledge of Indian Cooking and proficiency in trade (experience certificate required).

39 GTC Varanasi Selection Process and Exam Syllabus
The selection process consists of Written Exam and Practical/ Trade/ Physical and Skill tests (as applicable). The recruitment tests will be conducted at 39 Gorkha Training Centre Varanasi. Date and time for the written test will be intimated in Admit Card (Call letter) only to individuals whose applications received through Ordinary Post/ Registered Post/ Speed Post and are found correct in all respects after scrutiny.
In case of large number of applications received for one category of post, screening of application will be carried out on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in essential qualification exam. A cutoff percentage may be fixed by board depending upon number of applications received. No weightage will be given for additional/ higher qualification.
Written Examination (for all trades): Eligible candidates will be called for the OMR based written exam. The written exam question paper for Messenger, Draftari, Safaiwala and Cook trades will be of 10th Standard and 12th Standard for Steno and LDC. Generally, the Defence Civilian written exam is conducted for 02 Hours duration and consists of total 150 objective type questions (01 mark each) of maximum 150 Marks as per the syllabus below:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- Numerical Aptitude: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
- General English: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
- General Awareness: 50 Questions (50 Marks)
Numerical Aptitude is not applicable for the post of Steno Grade- II. After the written test, the result will be published on the same day by evening. Thereafter, candidates qualified in written test will be allowed to appear for the Practical/ Trade/ Physical and Skill tests (as applicable) of qualifying in nature. For selection, trade and category wise final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in written examination.

Application Form, Required Documents and Notification
Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the Gorkha Training Centre Bharti Defence Vacancies in the prescribed application form by downloading from the website indianarmy.nic.in or directly through the link below. You will have to apply for only one post as the written tests will be conducted simultaneously for all posts.
Send the application form complete in all respect along with the following required documents through Ordinary Post/ Registered Post/ Speed Post to “Presiding Officer, Civilian Direct Recruitment, Application Scrutiny Board, 39 Gorkha Training Centre Varanasi Cantt, District- Varanasi, State- Uttar Pradesh, PIN- 221002” so as to reach on or before the closing date.
Envelope containing application must be superscribed in bold letters as Application for the Post of Steno Grade-II, LDC, Messenger, Cook, Safaiwala, Draftari and must also mention UR/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ EWS/ EX-SERVICEMAN (Delete whichever is not applicable).
Required Documents: Candidates will have to attach self-attested copies of following certificate/ documents with the application form (do not attach original certificates):
- Date of birth certificate (10th pass certificate/ mark sheet).
- Medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner for physical fitness.
- Valid Caste certificate (for SC/ ST/ OBC).
- Educational qualification certificates and marks sheets.
- Experience/ Proficiency certificate duly signed and stamped by issuing Authority (where applicable).
Residential certificate. - Discharge certificate (for Ex-serviceman).
- Certificate / undertaking for employment in units in HQ UB Area or anywhere in India as per attached format.
- EWS certificate (if applicable) as per attached format.
- No Objection Certificate (for Central Govt employees).
- Four (04) additional passport size photographs.
- Self-attested Aadhar Card and one ID proof.
- Call letter (Admit Card) as per attached format.
- One self addressed envelope with postal stamps of Rs 25.
